Tour Descriptions
Tour 1 Technical Experience
This tour will have 2 stops, described
below.
Stop 1 - EECC/ RFID Innovation Center: The METRO Group RFID Innovation Center is a unique
information and development platform, which can be used to acquaint oneself
with the technology. A guided tour pictures RFID along the supply chain. In
addition, the RFID Innovation Center is home to the European EPC Competence
Center (EECC). This test and research facility offers various ways to test
RFID under realistic conditions.
Stop 2 - The real,- Future
Store: The METRO Group Future Store
Initiative was founded in 2002 to push forward the modernization process
within the retail industry and develop practical concepts for tomorrow's
shopping experience. The central platform of the initiative is the real,-
Future Store in Toenisvorst, which opened in May 2008. This hypermarket of
tomorrow provides a real-life environment for initiative partners to test and
develop new technologies and concepts until they are ready for wide-scale
introduction onto the market. For more information please visit www.future-store.org.
Departure from the DP Tower: 9:00am
A lunch box will be provided during this
tour.
Arrival back at the DP Tower:
2:30pm
Tour 2 Technical Textile RFID-Projects
This tour will have 2 stops, described
below.
Stop 1 - Galeria Kaufhof: METRO
Group is testing the deployment of RFID on sales floors. Since September
2007, men shopping at Galeria Kaufhof have been enjoying a special perk:
customers in the menswear departments can tap into additional product
information quickly and without any hassle thanks to RFID-supported service
applications. At the same time, staff rely on the technology to keep checks
on stock levels on the sales floor and in the warehouse, and can order more
merchandize in time. Out-of-stock situations as well as hunting down specific
sizes and colors are a thing of the past.
Further information under:
www.future-store.org/fsi-internet/html/en/1613/index.html.
Stop 2 - REWE: The project "RF-Tex-Log" deals with RFID technologie
on item-level, concerning fashion, with the aim to organize the logistic
processes more efficient using automatic identification.
The attention is on the process receiving (simulated because of
self-tagging), transfer to the sales floor, inventory, point of sale and the
returning of goods.
For capturing, storing and aggregating the event-dates, the GS1-standard
EPCIS is in use. Departure
from the DP Tower:
9:00am A lunch box will
be provided during this tour.
Arrival back at the DP Tower: 2:30pm
Guided tour at the dhl innovation center
The DHL Innovation Center offers
customers, partners and employees a unique forum for sharing new ideas and
