  • 16 October 2009 - The Strategic Overview and Technical Implementation Guides for GS1 EPCglobal RFID-based EAS for reusable and disposable tags were approved by the EPCglobal Board of Governors. These guides address all relevant challenges and issues on how to implement an RFID-based EAS solution within a retail environment using existing GS1 and GS1 EPCglobal standards.   • 10 June 2009 - GS1 EPCglobal Standard for Discovery, Configuration and Initialization was ratified by the EPCglobal Board of Governors. This specification helps to automate the updating and maintenance of readers on a network. Read the ,  Access an overview and the DCI V1.0 Standard.
  • 13 May 2009  - Guiding GS1 EPCglobal FAQs  on European Commission  RFID Privacy and Data Protection Recommendation published. On May 12th 2009, the European Commission adopted its RFID Privacy and Data Protection Recommendation after 2 years of multi-stakeholder dialogue, including industry (solution providers and final users), consumer groups and standard organizations.   • 12 May 2009 - GS1 EPCglobal has said that the  European Commission’s recently published RFID Privacy and Data Protection Recommendation provides clarity for RFID to move forward in Europe. 
  • 7 May 2009 European Commission supports the launch of the Transatlantic Traceability Infrastructure (TTI) Project which focuses on the deployment of a traceability infrastructure based on existing concepts, technologies and standards.
  • 28 April 2009 Phase 3 of the Transportation and Logistics Pilot Program was completed and has illustrated that EPC/RFID technology works in a challenging real life environment.   • 8 April 2009 - EPCglobal forms an Automotive Industry Discussion Group, which is the first step in identifying global identification standards. The objective of this group is the development of RFID standards for the capturing of events and exchange of data within the automotive industry
