Aerospace & Defense Industry Action Group (A&D IAG)


Description: Aerospace & Defense Industry Action Group is focused on facilitating the industry adoption of PC-based technologies throughout its supply chains with the intent of increasing object visibility, integrity, safety of equipment and personnel, operational readiness & efficiency, security of consumers and operators, and efficient movement that result from unique identification and secure information exchange. Consumer Electronics Industry Action Group (CE IAG)

Consumer Electronics Industry Action Group (CE IAG) Description:  The EPCglobal Consumer Electronics Industry Action Group (CE IAG) explores the benefits of using RFID enabled business processes through the utilization of EPC to improve the Consumer Electronics global supply chain in all aspects of the product life cycle – manufacturing to End of Life. Both the forward and reverse supply chains are addressed. Consumer electronics manufacturers, distributors and retailers are working toward the day when life-cycle tracking of electronic products will deliver benefits for businesses, consumers and the environment. Retail Supply Chain Industry Action Group (RSC IAG)

Media & Entertainment Interest Group
(MEIG)

Returnable Transport Items (Pallet Tagging) Interest Group (RTI PT IG)
Description: The objective of this interest group is to create a set of requirements as follows"· Work with the “GS1 Key Clarification Group” which will define the appropriate GS1 identification key (GRAI or GIAI) to identify a pallet.
· Define the specifications (orientation, placement) and amount of tag needed in order to use the EPC/RFID tagged pallet in several uses cases such as inbound/outbound, inventory management and also asset management.

Transportation & Logistics Services Industry Action Group (TLS IAG)

Transportation & Logistics Services Industry Action Group (TLS IAG) Description: The Monitoring of custody or possession of cargo and information during its journey or movement between Cargo Owners (Shipper / Consignee) and Transportation (Forwarders, Terminal operators, TLS providers, Custom brokers) throughout the Supply Chain with the compliance of International Trading Requirements (eg. Asian Adoption Program (AAP) Description: Helps Asian Pacific business to extract maximum business benefit from the use of EPCglobal technology as quickly as possible and with greatest benefits. European Adoption Programme (EAP) Description: Helps European business to extract maximum business benefit from the use of EPCglobal technology as quickly as possible and with minimum problems and without duplicating the work of other EPCglobal or EAN.UCC work groups. Joint Requirements Groups (JRGs)

 

JRG Working Groups

JRG Active Tagging (AT JRG) Description: Gathering end-user business requirements for developing a specification for active (as opposed to passive) RFID tags. These are fully battery-powered tags. Facilitating this group: Giselle Ow-Yang, GS1 EPCglobal

ONS Requirements ad hoc Committee (sub-group of JRG Data Discovery JRG)

Description: The objective of this group is to develop requirements for revisions to the ONS 1.0.1 standard that meets the needs as stated by GS1 France and GS1 Canada in Enhancement Request document submitted (2009-03-23 - SDP Enhancement Request Form - ONS v0 3.doc) and in follow up discussions with the EPCglobal Architecture Review Committee. In addition, the Ad Hoc will evaluate any related requirements that are brought forward and should be considered for this enhancement. JRG Item Level Tagging - Phase 2 (ILT2 JRG)
Description: Developing use cases and requirements for item level tagging for all industries. Facilitating this group: Giselle Ow-Yang , GS1 EPCglobal

JRG RFID based EAS Requirements Phase 2 (EAS2 JRG) Description: RFID based Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS JRG) phase 2 will produce an implementation guideline that can be used by any company applying EPCglobal standards based RFID capability identified for electronic article surveillance and loss prevention capabilities. These capabilities will include those defined by end users during the first phase of the EAS JRG and those further developed in this phase. (EAS JRG phase 2). The guideline document will clearly illustrate where EAS implementation is possible and approaches to enabling the use cases outlined using existing GS1 and EPCglobal standards. This group’s goal is help drive item level tagging using removable tags by creating this guideline. Facilitating this group: Giselle Ow-Yang, GS1 EPCglobal

JRG Sensors & Battery-Assist Passive Tag (SB JRG) Description: Gathering end-user business requirements for developing a specification for passive tags with small battery capabilities and on-board sensing capabilities. Facilitating this group: Giselle Ow-Yang, GS1 EPCglobal

JRG Software Active Tagging (SAT JRG)Description: The SAT shall provide an analysis of technical work that may be necessary for management of data from active tags in the software stack. Facilitating this group: Mark Frey, GS1 EPCglobal

JRG Tag Alteration for Consumer Usage (TA JRG) Description: The purpose of the JRG is to define the scope of modifications that a retailer MAY make to a tag at or around the time that a consumer takes possession of the tagged object. Such modifications may include, but are not limited to, hiding or destroying the contents of user memory altering, anonymizing, or overwriting the EPC reducing the tag's read range hiding the tag's TID killing the tag other changes that may arise from the work of the JRG. Technical Action Groups (TAG)

 

Hardware Action Groups (HAG)

HAG Active Tagging ad hoc Committee Description: Preparing a technical gap analysis on how existing specifications and standards match up against AT JRG requirements. An important component of this gap analysis will include description of the technical work that would have to be accomplished in order for a given specification or standard to be able to meet all of the user requirements. The HAT will produce a written document of their Recommendation based on review of the data from the gap analysis. Facilitating this group: Giselle Ow-Yang, GS1 EPCglobal

HAG Conformance & Interoperability Testing WG (HAG CIT)Description: The CIT WG will handle all test method development for conformance and interoperability going forward in the HAG.  This merging of the former The group is specifically chartered to address conformance and interoperability work for the UHF Gen2 conformance document v1.0.5 and any future UHF work, conformance and interoperability work to for HF, and conformance and interoperability work for any other air interface specifications that may be developed in the HAG. HAG Tag, Label, Reader and Printer Performance Working Group (TLRPP HAG)Description: Developing performance guidelines for read points specified by end-users. This work includes metrics for tags, readers, labels, and printers that characterize the performance of tags and readers, and guidelines for testing against the metrics developed. HAG UHF Air Interface 1and2 Working Group (UHF AI 1 2 WG) Description: Building extensions for user memory and security to Gen 2 to meet JRG requirements for item-level tagging. Facilitating this group: Giselle Ow-Yang, GS1 EPCglobal

HAG UHF Gen 2 Testing and Certification Working Group (UHFG2 T-C)

Software Action Groups (SAG)

SAG Certificate Profile  (CP WG)Description: The existing EPCglobal Certificate Profile Specification version 1.0.1 defines the attributes of digital certificates for use in EPCglobal applications but focuses on using the SGLN to identify trading partners. The CP JRG produced requirements to use other GS1 keys in notation defined in the TDS 1.4 and to deprecate use of strictly the SGLN for machine-to-machine transactions. This WG will take the approved requirements to update the Certificate Profile per the EPCglobal Standards Development Process to produce version 1.1 of the CP Standard. SAG Discovery Services (DS SAG)

SAG EPCIS Core Business Vocabulary Working Group (EPCIS CBV) Description: This work group will develop the Data Exchange JRG requirements for an EPCIS Core Business Vocabulary into an EPCglobal standard. The new standard will be for use in conjunction with the EPCIS standard and will facilitate standardized data exchange using EPCIS across business partners, and across industries. SAG Reader Operation Working Group Phase 2 (RO P2 WG) Description: The Reader Operations Working Group is beginning Phase 2 of its work to produce updates to the ratified LLRP standards. The work will be phased. In the first new release of LLRP or 1.2, we will provide updates to enhance the existing standard to add functionality based on the impacts created by UHF 1.2.0. Public Policy Steering Committee (PPSC)

Automotive Discussion Group


Description: The objective of this group is to bring together the key industry players, introduce them to the EPCglobal community, principles, organization and standards development process. It is also to work with those key industry players to establish the potential advantages to the industry and confirm the viability of embarking upon the standards development process. In addition, the group will focus on determining the initial focus areas, based upon the industry's perceived needs, and the work groups structure needed to cover those areas.
